Membership Manager

Reports to: Director of Development

Classification: Full-time/Exempt

Term: Ongoing

Compensation: DOE + comprehensive benefit program

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the Membership Manager is responsible for fundraising associated efforts for donors involved in the annual giving programs. This position will be actively engaged with The Center’s Ocotillo Club sustaining donor program, Business Partnership program and our Membership program as well as provide administrative support to the Director of Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Annual Giving

Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for the Ocotillo Club, The Center’s $1200+ annual gift sustaining donor program.

Identify, cultivate and solicit new Business Partners.

Work with Director of Development to develop, implement, and oversee meaningful donor stewardship plans.

Special Events

  • Support Director of Development and Events Manager in planning, coordination, and production of The Center’s two major fundraising events – Center Stage and Red Dress/Dress Red.
  • Support Events Manager in planning quarterly Ocotillo Club receptions and annual Donor Appreciation events.
  • Follow-up with donors on all pledges and online gifts generated at special events.
  • Coordinate with other community groups and individuals hosting events to benefit The Center to maximize the events’ success.

Donor Stewardship

  • Ensure that all donors are appropriately thanked in a timely manner and receive regular communication targeted to their interest and giving level.
  • Make donor stewardship a priority at The Center through personal phone calls and donor meetings.
  • Maintain an active awareness of goals, objectives and direction of the development program and monitor and communicate progress to Director of Development.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Development, monitor annual budgets and plans for annual giving.
  • Keep current on Center initiatives by engaging appropriate program staff.
  • Manage an effective program for recognition, engagement, and stewardship of annual giving donors.
  • Manage and prospect tracking system for individual donors to The Center, including new donor identification, as well as the renewal and upgrading of existing donors.

Administration

  • Support Director of Development in annual fundraising plan to generate funds needed to support organizational efforts in all categories of revenue.
  • Manage all gift processing, gift acknowledgement letters and gift reports.
  • In partnership with Director of Development, prepare materials for monthly Resource Development committee and Board meetings.
  • Maintain accurate donor records including updating and correcting database records.
  • Coordinate donor, Business Partner and Membership solicitations and renewals and all donor correspondence.

Capital Campaign

  • Assist in the development and management of capital and building campaigns as they arise.

Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Experience working in a fundraising environment with two years of professional fundraising experience working with donors.
  • Prior experience successfully managing a donor portfolio and exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of personalities including staff, board members, volunteers, and members of the public.
  • Mission-driven storyteller that inspires annual fund giving and works closely with the Director of Development and the development and communications team to promote the annual fund in a way that captures attention and motivates financial participation.
  • Experience in effective proposal writing.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to set and stick to priorities.
  • Ability to make decisions independently as well as to execute assignments of administrative detail as delegated
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft 365 and fundraising database management programs, such as Raiser’s Edge/eTapestry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues, needs and interests of LGBTQ youth, adults, families, and community, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender and nonbinary identity and issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions.
  • Values and embraces a relationship-driven work environment and culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle responsibilities independently, with minimum supervision
  • Proven inclination to independently identify problems and implement successful solutions
  • A strong commitment to the mission and work of The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert.
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English desired.
  • Available evenings and weekends.
