Ector Simpson currently serves as Volunteer Coordinator for the Mizell Center in Palm Springs. He oversees volunteer management and activities, Aunt Betty’s resale shop, and community-driven initiatives focused on diverse and representative programming. Before joining Mizell, Ector spent sixteen years at the NYC LGBT Community Center in various leadership roles, including Director of Conference Services and Director of Cultural Programs and Volunteer Management. He designed and implemented culturally diverse programs and events to elevate the organization’s profile as an LGBTQ+ cultural destination, broaden the Center’s donor base, and engage the more than 6,000 visitors to the Center’s building each week. Following his time at the NYC Center, Ector served as Director of Events and Corporate Relations with SAGE USA, Membership Officer with YMCA of the Sandhills in Fayetteville, NC, and numerous event planning, production, and volunteer roles. Ector holds a BA from Empire State College. He joined The Center of the Desert Board in spring 2022.
