Dr. Ann Engel is an Associate Clinical Social Worker with a doctorate in sociology and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Loyola, Chicago. At Loyola, Ann was a Hartford Scholar, focusing her studies on working with the elderly. Her prior research focused primarily on communication between couples in the lesbian community. Ann spent 20 years teaching sociology and social work in Chicago. She worked with LGBTQ+ adolescents and adults in several positions in Illinois and was a board member of CORAL (Coalition of Rainbow Alliances) in Springfield, Illinois, before relocating to the Palm Springs area. She says, “It took me a long time to get to California and I finally feel like I’m home. Working in the LGBTQ+ community here has been a long-term dream for me. Working at The Center is a dream come true.”
