About the Event

The LGBTQ+ and Friends Al-Anon program is designed to help those people who have been impacted by the alcoholism of a loved one. Al-Anon reinforces that no situation is really hopeless and that it is possible to find contentment, and even happiness, whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not.

The purpose of the meeting space is to provide peer led support. There are no “experts” in Al-Anon. Facilitators and participants share their experience, strength, and hope in the goal of supporting and helping one another.  Everyone in Al-Anon is an equal. While the LGBTQ+ community is the focus for the group, all others (friends) are welcome to attend. Achieving as much diversity in the group is a goal. The expectation is that the group will be gender, identification status, and age diverse.

Suggested Resources: The book “How Al-Anon Works” will be used during the sessions.
