Position Title: Manager, Programs
Reports to: Chief Programs Officer
Classification: Full-time
Term: Ongoing
Compensation: $26/hr plus Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, 401k Matching, PTO, Paid Holidays, as well as organization-wide days of Collective Rest.
Location: Palm Springs
The Position
Under the direction and guidance of the Chief Programs Officer, the Programs Manager will assist in building, stewarding, and supporting the individuals who are annual members of The Center, as well as program participants and visitors to The Center. The Programs Manager is primarily responsible for the delivery of annual membership program benefits to Center members, supports the Front Desk experience, as well as The Center’s year-round program delivery and outreach.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities
- Manages The Center’s membership program, including delivery of benefits to Center annual members, member-specific programming, and accurate record-keeping as it relates to the annual membership program.
- Develop, design, deliver and evaluate annual member program offerings, including facilitating membership orientations, leading member townhalls, and more
- Manages and updates membership program information through Center communication channels, including the website, and in partnership with the Communication team, the newsletter and social media
- Assists with facilitation and administration of adult programming across all programs departments as needed
- Coordinates and writes programming descriptions for website, newsletter, and other collateral materials
- Collects membership statistics and inputs membership statistics for internal reporting
- Support the oversight of Front Desk volunteers, including training, scheduling, and troubleshooting
- Be familiar with all Center programming, the daily calendar, user groups, and referral resources; answer questions and make referrals to visitors and annual members alike
- Support outreach efforts in English and Spanish in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Programs
- Greets and assists visitors of The Center for information about membership levels and the organization as a whole.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Experience
- Education: A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Any combination of experience, education and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying
- Experience: 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience working or volunteering with the LGBTQ+ community is preferred. Can substitute a combination of education and experience
- Bilingual English and Spanish speaking strongly preferred
- Communication – strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to present data effectively. Able to speak persuasively and write clearly and concisely.
- Outgoing and articulate, able to connect with a variety of populations and strong interpersonal skills
- Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and work independently in day-to-day functional needs
- Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgement and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions. Demonstrated application of judgment based on experience and knowledge
- Understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, including knowledge and demonstrated understanding of gender diversity, nonbinary issues, and intersectionality
- Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds and commitment to The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert’s mission and values.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Software Skills – including use of Microsoft Office suite, in particular Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet application, and experience using web-based applications and operations software.
