The\u00a0<\/span>HIV+ Aging Research Project (HARP-PS)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0exists for one clear and urgent reason: people aging with HIV deserve more than simply getting by\u2014they deserve to live well. Founded in 2015 by physicians, researchers, activists, and long-term survivors, HARP-PS was created to better understand the medical, emotional, and psychosocial realities of aging with HIV. Through research and a robust slate of educational initiatives\u2014including monthly lectures, conferences, and close alignment with medical providers\u2014we equip both the community and those who care for it with practical, relevant knowledge that\u00a0actually makes\u00a0a difference.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The need is undeniable. Today, more than half of Americans living with HIV are over 50, and that number is expected to climb to 75% by 2030. Aging with HIV is often accompanied by earlier neurocognitive decline, physical frailty, and psychosocial challenges such as isolation, depression, and trauma from surviving the AIDS epidemic. Many of these individuals helped build the HIV care systems we rely on today\u2014and now they are the ones most at risk of being overlooked. HARP-PS is the only organization in our region solely focused on supporting people aging with HIV, ensuring that longer lives are also healthier, better supported, and lived with dignity.<\/span><\/p>
