Greetings!

It's Thanksgiving week, and we want to share our gratitude for what your incredible support and our fantastic community have achieved.

THE CENTER COACHELLA
Opens for our East Valley
Community

Our Coachella community center was the culmination of years in the making. We are so proud of our team, the folks who supported us, and those who came on board to continue this critical work for today and the next generation.

People from across the valley joined in the grand opening celebration for The Center Coachella this Monday. After a morning of remarks from community partners and elected officials, including Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz, board members, and youth leaders, we celebrated with community to unveil the lobby mural by local Indio artist Venessa Becerra.

As one community member shared, the mural represents all we can accomplish when we recognize that our diverse identities are a strength to harness.

Thank you, Venessa for a welcoming vision and sharing your incredible talent.

VARIOUS FOOD DRIVES for
The Community Food Bank @ The Center

The past week saw an outpouring of generosity as various organizations, small businesses, and individuals held Food Drives across our community so those families experiencing food insecurity in our valley would be able to celebrate a bountiful holiday. Thanks to your efforts, we shared holiday joy with 245 families during our Thanksgiving food distribution.

HIGHLIGHTS
SUNLINE - FILL THE BUS

Thank you, Sunline Transit, for making The Center's Community Food Bank a beneficiary of the annual FILL THE BUS Food Drive. Our community filled the bus with 6.81 TONS of food, aka 13,000+ pounds! In addition to Thanksgiving turkeys and hams, you helped stock our shelves to support our community through the entire holiday season.

GREAT AUTOS
FOOD DRIVE

Our friends at Great Autos Southern California (Palm Springs) held a gathering of classic cars this past weekend, caravanning around Palm Springs for all to enjoy. They stopped by The Center and dropped off food donations along the route, filling our classic car: Big VAN-G!

We are so grateful to everyone at Great Autos.

MISS LINDSAY
DANCE STUDIO

Miss Lindsay Dance Studio in Palm Springs held a food drive to benefit The Center's Community Food Bank. The Studio shows us the power of community spirit when we come together as one.

We have many to thank, including Platinum Star Properties, Palm Springs • Brothers of the Desert • GED Magazine • Channel Q • Bouschet • Eight4Nine • 1501 Gastropub • 533 Viet Fusion • Roly China Fusion • Trunks Bar, Cathedral City • Employees at Bed, Bath & Beyond in Palms Springs • FIND Food Bank, and the National Guard Volunteers.

A BIG thank you to our donors, volunteers, and the entire Coachella Valley community who showed up to help others!

Thank you, Albert Gonzalez, Willie Rhine, John Paschal, and the staff of Eight4Nine, for hosting our Annual Holiday Wreath Auction. To everyone who created wreaths and the lucky winners, know that your goodwill directly benefits not only The Center but also the Palm Springs Animal Shelter.

It has been an incredible week! Because of you, we have the resources to show up for our community in many ways. We are genuinely thankful to share this journey of life-changing support with each of you. Happy Holidays!

THE ART OF MINDFUL
COOKING DURING
THE HOLIDAY SEASON
Via Zoom
Wednesday, December 8
@ 4pm - 5pm

Too often during the holidays, while spending time with friends and family, we tend to eat (or ‘overeat’) mindlessly.

Join Lisa Vesik and learn how to cook and eat mindfully; being present and aware; creating healthy delights, enjoying your food, each bite, the taste, the smell and the texture. Become more aware of your body's signals of fullness so that you can have your pumpkin pie and eat it too!
