Since 2016, The Center has helped create LGBTQ-affirming community spaces in the Eastern Coachella Valley. These spaces include an annual Eastern Coachella Valley Pride Festival at Veterans Park in Coachella where close to 1,000 people come out to support and be part of the event. Other spaces include a LGBTQ Youth Support Group in Desert Mirage High School in Thermal and LGBTQ+ social game nights in Mecca.
We support many GSA clubs and their advisors including DMHS, CVHS and Nova Academy HS. We had the opportunity to screen several LGBTQ films like El Canto Del Colibri, Mosquita y Mari and Waterberry Tears in Mecca and Raising Zoey in Coachella.
Our work is in partnership with Alianza Coachella Valley, Mecca Family and Farmworker’s Service Center, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest and The City of Coachella.
