Join Dr. Douglas Sadownick for a joyful & transformative six-week journey to combat isolation, foster connection, and enrich our individual and collective queer experiences. Through a mix of lecture, group discussion, creative work, and the possibility of producing a zine or public reading, this follows the path outlined in his upcoming book, “Healing Gay Sex and Love: A Group Experience.” This program may be extended by three additional weeks for participants interested in creating a zine or culminating in a public reading.
Learning Objectives:
1. Build Community by explore the ancient legacy of queer sex and love.
2. Learn tenants of LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy
3. Identify Internalized Oppressive psychological thoughts & feelings
4. Adapt Plato’s notion of Eros as a God for Today
5. Toward Erotic Wholeness via the Hero’s Journey
6. Create & Share – Consider ways to express this journey through a **zine** or public reading in an optional three-week extension.
Dr. Sadownick is a licensed psychotherapist, award-winning author, and founder of Colors LGBTQ Counseling Center. He established the nation’s first LGBTQ Specialization in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University in 2006 and has been a lifelong advocate for queer mental health and community-building.
