Roman Valdez began his nonprofit career after 20 years in the fashion industry when he sought to reinvent himself and find a more meaningful way to use his talents. Using his volunteer work with Catholic Charities as a steppingstone to gain his database management certification, he moved to GLAAD where he was the Director of Donor & Development Services. A move to New York found him working with Planned Parenthood of Greater New York and a nonprofit performing arts organization that helps bring the circus performing arts to underserved communities in NYC. Although working for national non-profits was immensely educational and impactful, he longed to work for an organization where he could be more directly involved with the people he was serving. He is thrilled to join the Center’s team andserve the diverse LGBTQ+ community of the Coachella Valley. He and his husband enjoy spending time with their two rescue dogs hiking and exploring the countryside.
