The Position
Under the guidance of the Director, Development, the Senior Manager, Events will support The Center’s fundraising efforts by collaborating on and implementing strategic event plans. In addition to supporting the Director, Development on all development events produced by The Center, this role will oversee The Center’s third-party events, cultivate relationships with community partners who host these events and foster meaningful engagement with stakeholders throughout the year. The Senior Manager will also oversee The Center’s event volunteer program, managing and coordinating volunteers to support events, donor cultivation, and community engagement initiatives. Working closely with the Director, the Senior Manager will help design and execute initiatives that meet fundraising goals, expand The Center’s donor community, and support events aligned with The Center’s mission. This team-oriented individual will coordinate and produce major stewardship and community-building events, collaborating with Membership, Business Partners, and other programs to achieve The Center’s fundraising goals.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to The Center’s fundraising and community building efforts through collaborative event planning, strategic partnerships, volunteer coordination, and execution.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director of Development to advance The Center’s fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, major gifts, corporate and planned giving, and multi-year capital campaigns.
- Oversee and support event-based fundraising activities and third-party events, implementing strategies aligned with The Center’s objectives.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with community partners hosting third-party events to enhance collaboration and engagement.
- Coordinate and manage event volunteers, ensuring they are effectively supported and engaged to maximize their impact on events and donor cultivation.
- Monitor progress toward event-related objectives, regularly reporting updates to the Director of Development.
- Oversee registration for The Center’s two major events: Center Stage and Red Dress Dress Red.
- Oversee the Silent Auction (including acquiring items and thanking donors after the event)
- Track event budgets and annual plans to ensure alignment with departmental goals.
- Track, fulfill, and reconcile individual and corporate sponsorship commitments in collaboration with the Director of Development.
- Engage with relevant program staff to stay updated on Center initiatives and incorporate this information into event planning.
- Assist in recognizing, engaging, and stewarding event sponsors, attendees, and volunteers, fostering deeper connections with The Center.
Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Multi-year experience in event production and fundraising, with at least three years in a professional fundraising role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and execute events that drive measurable results.
- Experience in volunteer management, with a track record of engaging and managing volunteers effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, board members, volunteers, and the public.
- A mission-driven storyteller who collaborates closely with the Director of Development and communications team to promote inspiring events.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience with fundraising database programs such as Raiser’s Edge or eTapestry.
- Understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, including knowledge of gender diversity and nonbinary issues.
- Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds and commitment to The LGBTQ
- Community Center of the Desert’s mission and values.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Bilingual or fluency in a language other than English is preferred.
