Bekki comes from 10+ years of animal care experience. They graduated from the Exotic Animal Training and Management program in May 2014 and were hired at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in September 2014. They started there as an animal care keeper and worked their way up the ladder as an animal care supervisor by the time they left the zoo. Wildlife conservation has been their number one priority and passion since they were a kid and will continue to be an important part of their life.
However, over the last couple of years, Bekki has been on their own gender identity journey and realized they wanted to get more involved with the LGBTQIA+ community. So, they sought out ways to do so and started volunteering for the LGBTQ+ Community Center of the Desert in the summer of 2022. They are thrilled to shift their career and join the team at the Center where they can make an impact on creating a safe space for all in the community.
When Bekki is not being a positive and kind light at the Center, you can find them spending time together with friends or playing video games at home.
