Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Skills Group

About the Event

DBT is a virtual, closed skills group focused on four areas:

  • Mindfulness: Focus on the present moment, and accept your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and bodily sensations without controlling them
  • Distress tolerance: Manage an emotional incident without feeling overwhelmed
  • Emotional regulation: Manage and change intense emotions that are causing problems in your life
  • Interpersonal effectiveness: Manage and improve relationships with others

Each area is broken into three-8week modules. The entire program takes 6 months to complete, but it is not required to attend all modules. This is not a “processing” group, but rather a skills focused, educational class.
