About The Event

Join us for Queer Pages: Unbound Perspectives on Love and Desire, a weekly gathering where we dive into a series of readings that challenges heteronormative narratives and uplifts the diverse experiences of queer, trans, and people of color (QTPOC) in exploring relationships and sexuality. No need to read the books and articles ahead of time. We will read and discuss them together in group. This series offers a safe and affirming space for thoughtful discussions on how societal norms impact our understanding of identity, intimacy, and connection. Through facilitated conversations of our unique lived experiences and shared reflections, we will deepen our collective knowledge and foster a community of healthy communication and radical self-love.

Facilitators

Christopher Powers (he/him) is a marriage and family therapist and AASECT certified sex therapist.  With a background in client-centered harm reduction therapy and substance use counseling, he has passionately served members of queer, poly, and kink communities since 2008.  His specialties include relationship counseling, sex/drug-linked behavior, and out of control sexual behavior, all with a focus on following the pleasure. His previous groups have included “Sex and Intimacy without Drugs and Alcohol” and “Emotions and Mindfulness.”

Darren Olivares (he/they) is a nonbinary ACE person of color with a rich background in non-traditional and non-heteronormative relationships, particularly within the BDSM / Leather scene. As a co-facilitator of Queer Pages: Unbound Perspectives on Love and Desire, he brings his experience in fostering inclusive spaces and supporting diverse relationship structures. His facilitation style emphasizes open dialogue, mutual respect, and the celebration of radical self-love, ensuring that each participant feels seen, heard, and valued in the discussions.
